See job description belowSenior Trading Research Systems EngineerOverview Global Trading Research Group is looking for an individual to work with Trading, Research, and Portfolio Management, to provide tools and processes used in monitoring our trading performance, and performing quantitative analyses of our trading strategies. The candidate will work closely with end users of varying technical sophistication, as well as technologists throughout the firm.The candidate should have strong software development skills with experience designing, implementing and supporting enterprise applications, as well as real-world experience working with large financial datasets. Responsibilities - Design and develop our next generation quantitative trading analytics software product, leveraging experience in large datasets or cloud computing technologies.- Maintain and support existing analytics tools used by Trading, Research, Portfolio Managers, and Strategists across the firm.- Implement processes to improve our data collection, monitoring and visualization needs. - Be articulate and communicate effectively with the trading desk, other internal clients, and external counterparties. - Be a team player, working well other developers and with our partners in trading, research, portfolio managers, and strategists. Qualifications - MS in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field. - Solid experience working with complex SQL queries: E.g. MySQL, Sybase - Expert server-side Java skills, ideally with domain experience in distributed caches and compute grids. - Comfortable with Unix and capable of deciphering complex shell scripts. - Industry knowledge of trading operations, preferably fixed income. - Experience in the full development life-cycle of enterprise application software, designed for commercialization: concept through support.- Strong analytical and problem solving skills coupled with a strong attention to detail. - Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively and adapt quickly in a rapidly changing, team-based environment.
